How is it available for free?
If you live in or own a property with an EPC rating of E, F or G and currently heat your home with electric, wood or coal, an ECO4 grant can pay the full cost of upgrading your home to gas central heating.
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme helps eligible households to improve the energy efficiency of their homes through 100% fully funded home improvement grants. The government have a target to reduce Britain’s carbon footprint to help the UK reach net zero emissions by 2050.
What are the benefits of an ASHP?
An air-source heat pump (ASHP) will absorb the heat from the air outside and transfer it into your home.
This heat can then be used for heating radiators as well as providing hot water. ASHPs can absorb heat from air temperatures of -15 degrees so they are more than adequate for the UK’s climate.
With an ASHP you can save money on your energy bills whilst reducing your environmental impact. ASHPs are installed with free insulation to keep the heat in your home and free solar panels to help with your electric bills.
ASHPs have a low carbon footprint as they use a natural source of renewable energy.
This gives the household the opportunity to generate renewable heat and save money on your energy bills.

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme is a government initiative in the United Kingdom aimed at improving the energy efficiency of homes and reducing carbon emissions. It requires large energy suppliers to provide funding for the installation of energy-saving measures, such as insulation and heating upgrades, in eligible households.
Eligibility for the ECO4 scheme varies depending on factors such as household income, receipt of certain benefits, property type, and geographic location. Typically, households receiving means-tested benefits or living in properties with low energy efficiency ratings are eligible for support.
The ECO4 scheme covers a range of energy efficiency measures, including loft insulation, solid wall insulation, boiler replacements, solar panels and heating system upgrades. An assessment is produced using approved government software which generations recommendation for the property based on data collected about the property at the home survey. The measures to be fitted at the home are based on these recommendations.
To qualify for the ECO4 scheme, at least one person living at the property has to be in receipt of, or have received within the past 6 months, one of the benefits listed below:
1) Income based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
2) Income related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
3) Income Support (IS)
4) Pension Credit Guarantee Credit (PCGC)
